For the longer hitters, an iron off the tee would be better for position. Out of Bounds all the way down the left makes for an interesting start to the round. Green well guarded by bunkers - if in doubt, best to be at the back.

A good short Par 3 with tee shot to a slightly raised green. The green is protected by a steep bank in front and tricky run-offs on either side. Anything short will roll back down the bank.

Shortish 4 that the longer hitter can reach, provided they negotiate the narrow neck and well bunkered green. Best option? Mid iron from the tee leaves a short iron safely to the green.

Can be a card wrecker! Out of Bounds down the right with trees and a dyke down on the left. A testing drive where accuracy is the key. Longer drivers may like to “take on” the corner and so avoid the dog-leg right.

A good Par 5. Out of Bounds all down the right of the fairway. The fairway bunkers should be avoided with the 2nd shot. Watch for the two- tier green.

A tough Par 4, with water hazard at the bottom of the slope. Ideal tee shot is down the left side of the fairway, so as to avoid the hazard and the large tree that’s in it to the right. Green has plenty of borrow.

A dog-leg left with trees both sides of the fairway (more intrusive on the left). Long hitters might well get very close to the green, but must avoid the cross bunkers in the fairway.

A good hole to finish the front 9, with the prevailing wind in your face. Undulating fairway (the Wolds) make for a difficult 2nd/3rd shot.

A tough Par 3 with well protected green. Very hard if the green is missed on either side.

This fairly benign Par 4 has been toughened up considerably with the addition of a Tiger Tee. Beware of two bunkers running across the fairway to catch the longer tee shots – a rescue club might be safer to avoid the risk.

A long, uphill Par 5, with a tree-lined fairway after the water hazard offering a fairly tough tee shot. A well bunkered green awaits.

Short Par 4, looks prettier than it plays. Out of Bounds all down the right. A drive over the brow of the slope leaves an elevated green before you with a difficult up and down if missed to the right.

Toughest hole on the course. Fairway bunkers around two-thirds of the way to the green should deter the average golfer from an over-ambitious drive.

Well protected two-tier green. No major problem other than being one of the smallest greens on the course. Heart of the green is the best option.

Difficult driving hole with a tee shot over the trees to an uphill fairway. Out of Bounds all the way along the right. Can be the toughest green on the course that slopes heavily from back to front with bunkers either side. Tip of the Day - stay below the flag!

Long Par 5 dog-leg left. Tee shot should be down the right centre of the fairway, with a touch of draw. Two bunkers going across the fairway can catch many 2nd shots, so be careful. Bunkers and roll-offs protect a tricky green, as do the trees lining the approach.

Long, straight, undulating Par 5, against the prevailing wind. The right side of the fairway should be favoured, but beware the ever-encroaching trees. Narrow entrance to a protected green, with Out of Bounds behind and to the right. Best chance for that last birdie - lay up and chip close.
